Company Overview Amagi is a global leader in cloud-based SaaS tech for broadcast & connected TV.
Industry Broadcast Media
Headquartered New York

Introduction

For any brand or business, a website is its most valuable asset, and digital infrastructure proves to be an important factor in how well a business performs.

88% of website visitors will never return to a website they did not like the first time.

Having an optimized website that is compatible with multiple popular devices is a no-brainer—first impressions are (statistically speaking) the last impression, after all.

In this case study, we discuss how Amagi built an editor-friendly website that makes content edits and customizations more convenient.

The challenge

Amagi is a leading SaaS company that provides comprehensive cloud-managed LIVE and on-demand video infrastructure to video and OTT platforms. Headquartered in New York, Amagi supports broadcast media production and distribution with a sharp focus on innovation.

As business expanded, Amagi’s content managers struggled to keep up with the restricted nature of the website, which demanded dev intervention for the smallest tweaks and edits. Their main challenges were:

  • High dev dependency: For even minor edits, content managers needed dev support as the website relied on technical assistance for basic content customization. Editors required tech support to add pages, change content, and update site structure. This badly impacted their delivery rate and stunted the team’s ability to update the website in real-time.
  • Unoptimized website: The website wasn’t optimized for several devices, which led to inconsistent performance across desktops, mobiles, and tablet devices. Non-HubDB pages were built statically inside their CMS which meant they lacked dynamic data management capabilities.
  • Required extensive human intervention: Each page needed to be set up and created individually. Updating these individual pages proved to be a task for the content editors, who struggled to maintain consistency across multiple pages, especially when necessary and real-time updates were required.

These issues within their website had created a bottleneck and the brand’s digital presence was impacted in the fast-paced media industry.

Our solution

Looking at Amagi’s challenges and their business requirements, we decided it was best to build them an editor-friendly and highly customizable website. Additionally, we ensured that this website was responsive to a multitude of screen sizes to attain optimum user experience:

  • Built customizable templates: The RevX team designed customizable modules and templates for Amagi that people without a technical background could use easily. These templates also helped maintain brand and tone consistency while retaining edit controls over individual elements.
  • Created custom theme: The client provided us with UI designs which we used to build a custom theme. Doing this ensured the website aligned with their brand guidelines and aesthetic preferences.
  • Device optimization: We ensured that each page was optimized for the best user experience across a large range of devices. Each page could easily adapt to screen sizes across mobile, tablet, and desktop devices and the responsive design easily supports new screen ratios in the future.
  • Improved SEO friendliness: Since device optimization is such an important factor for a higher SEO ranking, the responsiveness of the website was SEO-friendly and improved its ranking.
  • Editor-friendly website: This new setup allowed editors and content managers without technical backgrounds to easily edit and update the webpages whenever required. This helped them improve efficiency and proactively respond to business requirements.
  • Centralized data storage using HubDB: We created HubDB pages that used a centralized data source. This allowed automatic reflection of content updates across relevant pages, saving time and maintaining consistency. Since HubDB allows users to create multiple pages with consistent data presentation, it was ideal for a large website like Amagi’s that required frequent updates.

The impact

With RevX’s help, Amagi was able to build a scalable website that could be easily customized by non-tech staff as well. Amagi’s editorial team regained control of the content with improved agility.

This project significantly improved Amagi’s digital operations and optimized efficiencies, user experience, and overall site performance.

Here’s how Amagi’s website experience improved remarkably after our intervention:

  • Faster content updates: With editable modules that required no dev support, Amagi’s editorial team could now react faster to business requirements and update content swiftly. The user-friendly nature of our templates helped the Amagi team streamline their workflows efficiently.
  • Consistent, responsive design for a personalized experience: Our efforts resulted in a more consistent tone, branding, and data across pages, reducing the chances for possible errors. Our design supports several screen sizes and supports a better user experience. The device-optimized website also supported better SEO rankings.
  • Dynamic and up-to-date content: With easier content updates, Amagi’s website now has relevant content that reflects real-time changes.
  • Lower dev cost, improved site speed, and long-term savings: This project helped save development costs by empowering editors to take complete charge of the website content and freed up valuable developer resources.  Our solutions support future scalability and ensure long-term savings.

Conclusion

RevX’s collaboration with Amagi truly transformed the way Amagi’s team handles content and manages their website.

By enhancing the website’s optimization, we ensured that they are set for a long time. In the fast-paced media industry, it is especially important to have up-to-date relevant content that reflects real-world changes.

Amagi is now well-positioned to scale its digital operations and continue adapting to the ever-changing media landscape to maintain its position as a global leader.
