Context

Frozen Dessert Supplies runs a lean, high-volume wholesale operation. Products move fast, orders come in constantly, and the data that should be flowing between its e-commerce and marketing platforms needs to be accurate and current to inform good decisions. Theirs wasn't.

The HubSpot-Shopify integration had gaps — data wasn't syncing reliably between the two platforms, which meant neither system was telling the full story. GA4 and Shopify were reporting differently on the same events, and no one had audited why. Product-level tracking inside Shopify wasn't capturing what the team needed. And the email templates being sent to customers were overdue for both an update and a rethink. RevX came in to fix the plumbing, close the reporting gaps, and rebuild the email experience from the ground up.

The challenge

Frozen Dessert Supplies' challenges were interconnected — each one a different symptom of the same underlying problem: a tech stack that hadn't been properly configured or maintained, and was quietly producing unreliable data and underperforming customer communications as a result.

A HubSpot-Shopify integration with missing gaps and unreliable data sync
The integration between HubSpot and Shopify was in place, but it wasn't working correctly. Data sync gaps meant that customer and order information wasn't flowing consistently between the two platforms — which undermined the reliability of both. HubSpot's contact data was incomplete. Shopify's order history wasn't fully reflected in the CRM. For a wholesale business where customer data informs segmentation, follow-up, and repeat purchase strategy, those gaps had direct commercial consequences.

GA4 and Shopify reporting different numbers on the same events
Discrepancies between GA4 and Shopify reporting created a situation where the team couldn't know with confidence which platform to trust. When two analytics sources disagree, neither one is fully useful — decisions made on one set of numbers may contradict decisions made on the other. Understanding why the variance existed required a thorough dual audit, and resolving it required reconciling the tracking configuration in both systems.

Email templates that weren't keeping pace with the business
The email templates Frozen Dessert Supplies was sending to customers — transactional communications, promotional content, order updates — needed both updating and rebuilding. Templates that hadn't been refreshed reflect the brand as it was rather than as it is, and templates that weren't personalized were missing the opportunity to use the rich Shopify data the business had on its customers' ordering behavior, discount usage, and shipping preferences.

Our solution

RevX approached the engagement across two parallel workstreams: fixing the data infrastructure — the integration, the tracking, and the reporting — and rebuilding the email templates that communicated with customers at every stage of the purchase journey.

A full audit and remediation of the HubSpot-Shopify integration
RevX conducted a thorough audit of the integration between HubSpot and Shopify, identifying the specific gaps where data sync was breaking down and implementing the fixes required to close them. Customer data, order history, and the contact records that connected the two platforms were reconciled — ensuring that HubSpot reflected what Shopify knew about customers, and that both systems were drawing from the same source of truth.

Website tracking built out across Shopify's product and cart journey
RevX implemented comprehensive website tracking within Shopify, capturing product page performance, add-to-cart rates, cart completion, and revenue per page. This gave the team visibility into the e-commerce funnel that the previous configuration hadn't provided — understanding not just what customers bought, but where they dropped off, which products were converting, and which pages were generating the most revenue. That tracking data also formed the basis for resolving the GA4 discrepancies, ensuring product reporting in Shopify was reflected accurately in GA4.

Email templates rebuilt with robust HTML coding and Shopify personalization
RevX conducted thorough research into Frozen Dessert Supplies' Shopify data — including discount structures, tax configurations, and shipping methods — to inform the personalization logic built into the new templates. The email templates were then created and updated using robust HTML coding, producing communications that were visually appealing, on-brand, and capable of surfacing the right customer-specific data at the right moment. Templates that had been static and generic became dynamic and tailored.

The impact

The combined effect of a fixed integration, better tracking, and rebuilt email templates was a meaningfully improved data environment and a more professional, personalized customer communication experience.

Reliable data sync producing better reporting across both platforms

With the HubSpot-Shopify integration gaps resolved, data began flowing accurately between the two systems. The improvement wasn't confined to one platform — enhanced reporting showed up in both Shopify and HubSpot simultaneously, giving the team a consistent, trustworthy view of customer activity and order history that the previous sync issues had made impossible.

Full e-commerce funnel visibility through Shopify tracking

The product and cart tracking implementation gave Frozen Dessert Supplies a detailed picture of how customers moved through the purchase journey — from product page to checkout. Add-to-cart rates, cart completion, and revenue per page became measurable and actionable data points rather than unknowns. For a wholesale business optimizing for repeat purchase and basket size, that level of funnel visibility is a meaningful operational upgrade.

Personalized, visually refined email templates ready to drive engagement

The rebuilt email templates brought personalization and visual quality to a communication channel that had been underperforming its potential. Drawing on Shopify's customer data, the templates could now reflect each customer's specific context — making communications feel relevant rather than generic. For a business whose customers return regularly for supplies, the quality of that ongoing email relationship has a direct bearing on retention and lifetime value.
